Character List

Jordan:
Psychic teacher, mentor, and guardian. "Second in command" in the psychic circle in his area. Spent the first fourteen years of his life in an insane asylum, being treated for "autism", when in fact he was simply being intensively trained on a mental level. Extremely skilled and powerful, Jordan is also extremely emotional and this is his great weakness, making him vulnerable through his intensely felt emotions.

Jesse:
The new overseer, for most of the story he doesn't realize this. A teenage runaway, living on the streets of NYC, he doesn't understand that the voices he hears in his head are the result of powerful psychics trying to communicate with him. He thinks's he's crazy. This story deals with Jesse's journey to the guardians, and the challenges and tests he faces in assuming his role.

Michael Morianis:
The current overseer of the psychic group. Michael, interchangeably knows as Morianis, is very old, having held his position for upwards of 90 years. His powers are immense, and he often appears to travel in time, and be two or more places at once. His time as overseer is at an end, and he is losing capability faster than the new overseer can be brought to power.

Kellan:
A teenager raised with the guardians, and a hereditary, both his twin brother, Kyle,  and his older sister, Angel,  are guardians. Kellan's powers are limited to healing, but the use of this power takes a tremendous toll on him, the pain and suffering he takes from those he heals, finding a new home in him. Kellan claims no alignment, neither being one of the working guardians, nor opposing them. His nature is to help everyone, causing a measure of distrust on the parts of the others, as they claim a person with no loyalty cannot be counted on.

Cara:
A woman who has only a tenuous connection to the guardians, she's an active empathic link, mentally joining with those members of the group who are in distress, providing stability, comfort, and guidance.
She also provides lent energy when the going gets tough.

Sav:
A man who in his past incarnations was always a guardian. In this life Sav had chosen to retire, thus forgetting all of his knowledge, his abilities going dormant. Due to an unfortunate accident, Sav's powers and memories are reactivated, causing him to be faced with a choice... rejoin the guardians, or be killed and forced to start over again in a new life. Guardian powers cannot be only half sensed and used. Sav's choice is to reactivate completely, and rejoin the guardians, but only after a struggle of monumental proportions, placing him as an ally on the side of those who initially attempted to take his life. Sav is Cara's strongest working link, and is completely devoted to Jordan, who was the instrument of his salvation.

Dannon:
A young guardian who believes the time for change is at hand. He, and his allies, believe the rules of the guardians are too barbaric, too manipulative, too intense. He is calling for and enacting a revolution, attempting to overthrow the present order and prevent the new overseer from assuming position.

Kyle:
Kellan's twin brother, loyal to Dannon, actively opposing the present order of guardians.

Angel:
Nearly on a level with Morianis, Angel is the glue that holds the group together. Almost limitless in her ability, she works to keep everything on an even keel... though her time too, is nearing it's end.

The American Boy:
Un-named, this character is a composite of several pivotal players who either declined mention, or who's names have been forgotten. He is also a faintly fictionalized personification of "what if", and an echo of possibilities. He personifies every minor player who made a contribution, although he is most strongly based on one particular person. At times he IS that person, though we've attempted to keep him a true composite as much as possible. He is also an example of the effects guardian workings can have, and their tendency to "rescue" people.
