I’m taking a temporary break from subbing to do some editing of the Jdrama Fansub Maps, sorting dramas by date first aired, and adding the function to sort dramas by; date, network, or title. While I’m at it I’m also sorting subtitles by status; complete, in progress, announced.
There are several subtitles either in closed communities, or subtitles in none-English languages where I can’t check if a drama has been completed. I’d like to encourage those who knows to update the status on FansubWiki.
When the forum is down you can not access the subtitles section. If you know who is subbing a drama try to find their blog/follow them on social media. You may still be able to access DramaWiki and FansubWiki.
Downtimes at noon At 11:00 and at 12:00 (noon, European time) we do our daily scheduled backups. During that time the servers (forum and wikis) may be more or less unusable for some minutes. The critical database backups take only 1-2 minutes. After that some uncritical file backups and file transfers start, which take about 30-60 minutes. During that time the servers may run slower than usual. If the forum server is very busy then the forum and/or the search function will be automatically disabled.
2016.05.21 The forum is now back online.
I’ve contacted admins regarding the recent problem with different browsers reporting about untrusted connection to D-Addicts forum. They are aware of the problem and will look into it.
2015.08.13 Some things went kaput on the site. At the moment you get the message about untrusted connection when accessing D-Addicts forum. I don’t know the exact cause of the problem. A temporary solution is to use http://www.d-addicts.com instead.
For example the thread Firefox reporting untrusted connection to d-addicts.com
MoerkJ wrote 524 and 520 errors (from CloudFlare) Such errors may happen when accessing the forum when the forum server is very very busy or when it crashed. Then the cloudflare proxy cannot access our forum server. The CloudFlare proxy is a worldwide distributed network. The service quality may also depend on your location (country, state, or continent).
2014.11.19 Announcement On November 19th 2014 D-Addicts closed down its torrent section.
Only the torrent section is closing. Discussions, subtitles, DramaWiki, etc will remain according to Ruroshin’s post.
At first, when I saw the I announcement I thought, “Maybe it’s an old thread.” I had to double check the date. Sadly it wasn’t. I wish it was April 1st. And I happened to be the last one.
After the torrent section closed many people sadly disappeared from the forum. Some have moved over to AvistaZ or Nyaa.
I think the following sites is used the most nowadays.
One year has gone by since D-Addicts torrent section closed, I still clearly remember that day, and the following turbulent days. Those days I listened much to “Tusen Bitar” (Thousand Pieces) by Björn Afzelius.
It was very sudden news, and I got very very very sad. I have visited (and still am) the site daily for 10+ years.
I wonder how many people have been inspired to study Japanese/Korean/Chinese, taken part in the JET program because of it.
I’m not angry at Ruroshin for the decision he made, but so sad that this had to happen to such a great community. With the closing of the torrent section and new layout a lot of people left, and the drama discussion threads got less active.
I want to thank all members of the D-Addicts from the bottom of my heart, those who left (I miss you), stayed, returned, or recently joined for still sharing your love for Asian dramas. Many whom I consider a friend, and a few of you mean very much to me.
A special thank you to some, I’m sure many more could be added here.
